Recently a friend and I started a movie review website, and this has allowed us to see new release movies about a week before they are released. This week we got to see “Friends with Benefits” the new movie starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. For a quick review – it is a chick flick.
However there were a few scenes that caught my attention (no not JT’s ass) as a special needs parent. Timberlake’s dad in the movie suffers from Alzheimers and is his actions are getting worse, ie he takes off his pants before he eats. At one point in the movie Timberlake opens up to Kunis about his dad and Alzheimers and says that he is tired of the “pity stares and looks”. How often as a parent of a special needs kid have you said this. The second scene that got my attention was when Timberlake and his dad were in an airport and his dad got hungry. They found a restaurant and got ready to eat, and his dad took off his pants. The wait staff and other patrons of the restaurant starting flipping out and causing a scene. One waitress asks Timberlake “Aren’t you going to do something?” he replies “Yes” and takes off his pants and sits down to have dinner with his dad. He completely defused the situation by removing his pants and accepting his dad.
If you want to see my review of this movie as well as other new movies including “Captain America” head over to filmbacon.com. Just a warning about “Friends with Benefits” there is one use of the R Word.
